Researchers from Sweden’s Chalmers University & National Institute of Chemistry in Slovenia
Recently researchers from Sweden’s Chalmers University of Technology and the National Institute of Chemistry in Slovenia find a new concept for a double density of aluminum battery with more sustainable .
In aluminum ion battery Anode as aluminum & Cathode as nano structured made of carbon-based molecule anthraquinone.

Researchers from UNSW Sydney
Researcher Team lead by Dr Dung Jun kim from UNSW Sydney is also working on rechargeable aluminium-ion battery.
Dr Dong Jun Kim & team of researchers including Nobel Laureate Sir Fraser Stoddart to demonstrate a strategy for designing active materials for rechargeable aluminium batteries.
Team found a novel way to design rechargeable aluminium batteries by employing a redox-active macrocyclic compound as the active material.
For aluminium-ion batteries, aluminium as ideal contenders for this space,given aluminium is the third most abundant element in the Earth’s crust . It also as high theoretical volumetric capacities on account of its multiple redox states, high energy to price ratio, low cost.
Further research on utilising redox-active organic molecules for multivalent-ion intercalation batteries such as aluminium, magnesium, zinc, and calcium.
As aluminium-ion battery in initial stage & doesn’t make sense to compare against well known lithium ion battery.
